Tri-Lebanon Batroun 2018 - That’s the Spirit!
Triathletes, friends and supporters, local and from abroad, once again came together inspired by health, fitness and the sport of triathlon to swim in the Mediterranean, bike and run the Batroun coastal road to complete the challenging Tri-Lebanon course. Olympic and sprint distances were on offer for individuals and relay teams, and with so many magnificent athletes of all ages, this proved, yet again, to be another great community gathering promoting sport for all.
There were some incredible performances, and the UK precision-timing team we pleased to announce that a few personal bests were broken. There were also some new rising stars on the podium, and an all-inclusive spirit of positivity throughout the day. Congratulations to all the winners. Thierry Depolla was the overall Olympic male winner, and Karson Anderson was the overall Olympic female winner. Both athletes received the Roy Nasr Award. Overall male Sprint winner was Ali Zoghbi while the overall female Sprint winner was Zeina Hokayem.
Always striving to create the best conditions for participants, this was the first year of the new swim-safe measures to ensure the safety of athletes which included underwater divers, kayaks, coastguard and Lebanese navy boats.
During the awards ceremony, race director Mary Anne Ballouz thanked the mayor of Batroun for the municipality’s support, Sawary staff and management for providing such a marvelous venue, and the community of triathletes and their supporters for making the event so energizing and rewarding.
Thanks to all our race sponsors and supporters and to all the amazing volunteers who made this race happen!
See you next year!
Live! Love! Triathlon!
